MALIBU MODERN

When the owners of this five-story Malibu beach house acquired the property, they imagined the place to be a turnkey acquisition. However, the home - with its many awkward angles and dark rooms - proved to be anything but.

The clients wanted the feel of a pristine white art gallery on the ocean. Artwork and glass provide pops of bright color like shells on a sun-bleached beach.

In order to completely transform the home, Jamie Bush opened up many of the spaces and employed a mostly-neutral palette throughout the home, driving focus to the walls of glass that overlooked the expanse of sea beyond.

To further introduce cohesiveness to the design, connecting elements like sand-colored limestone runs from the front gate, up the entrance steps all the way thorough to the balconies in the back.  Mixed media artwork by Carolyn Cole and contemporary glass sprinkle pops of color throughout the rooms.
